I don't normally bring things like this up but I just couldn't help myself on this one. Looks like Global Warming must be real. That famous prognosticating groundhog Punxsutawney Phil is undeniable proof. For the first time since 1989 he didn't see his shadow. That means spring is on its way early, which certainly points to warmer temperatures.
I am no scientist and know absolutely nothing about environmental science. But I must say this whole Global Warming talk reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. If you have seen the movie you remember the concept - Murray wakes up every morning to relive the same day. His clock radio is playing the same broadcast - "Put your booties on, cause it's cold outside." In decades past we have heard the best experts in the world predict all sorts of ways the world was going to fall apart: acid rain, nuclear winter, Ozone depletion, etc. Now it is global warming. The world's temperature has gone up .6 degrees in the last 100 years. They predict it will go up another 1.4 degrees in the next 100 years. That really sounds devastating.
I do think there is a big issue here though. Regardless of what you think about global warming, we do have a God-given responsibility to take care of the earth.

I don't know about the global warming....here on the coast of North Carolina we are supposed to get lows in the teens and maybe single digits next week. But I agree we do have a responsibility to the earth. Good post

My favorite all time movie is Ground Hog Day. I love that movie. Another favorite also stars Bill Murray, What About Bob?. No one can deny that God gave us responsibility for the earth in Genesis 1. The problem comes in figuring out how to use our resources properly. We live in a fallen world. No matter what we do will result in an imperfect system. Sometimes it may mean a matter of what does the least damage. Using less fossil fuel seems like good advice on the outside but if the fuel is limited what difference does it make if we use it up in two generations or three? Anyway, it seems to me that some of the mega-churches are making this a bigger issue than it needs to be. There are way too many people who need the gospel more than they need advice on how to use less gas.

Good thoughts Bob, I would have to agree with you there on what the megachurches are doing. I think that it may come back around to bite them.
